The Weekender October 7 – 8

1. Old Time Baseball

When: Sunday, October 8th at 11AM
Where: Smithtown Historical Society, 239 Middle Country Road, Smithtown, NY 11787

Experience the thrill of a bygone era as you step back in time to catch a game of 19th-century baseball, featuring our very own Atlantic Baseball Club playing in the style and following the rules of the years 1864-1870. This unique sporting event offers a nostalgic glimpse into the roots of America’s favorite pastime and the evolution of the game we know today. As you enter the historic ballpark, you’ll be transported to a time when baseball was still in its formative years. The players, dressed in authentic 19th-century uniforms, evoke the spirit and dedication of the athletes from that era. They play without gloves, underhand pitch, and adhere to the rules and customs of the time, offering a fascinating contrast to the modern version of the sport.
