1. St. James Model Railroad Club

The St. James Model Railroad Club presents a stunning 38′ x 48′ O gauge model train layout, the result of over 30 years of dedicated work. This impressive display captures the essence of railroading from the steam era to the modern day, with a variety of freight and passenger trains running through an imaginative and scenic setting. The Club gathers each Wednesday night at 8:00 PM in the Mills Pond House basement and hosts an annual Holiday Open House, this year running from November 22nd to 24th. Private showings are also available for non-profit and public service groups, by special arrangement and when the layout is not undergoing significant updates.
2. Veterans Day Weekend

This Veterans Day Weekend, join us for a special event honoring veterans and promoting health awareness, presented in partnership with Fans for the Cure. From Saturday, November 9 to Monday, November 11, 2024, veterans and a guest are invited to enjoy free admission to our museum galleries from 10 am to 5 pm. On Saturday, November 9, between 11 am and 2 pm, Fans for the Cure will be on-site to share essential men’s health and prostate cancer information, offering valuable resources to visitors. Together, we’re here to support the health and well-being of our heroes.
3. Holiday Helpers Gift Wrapping Drive
When: Nov 07, 2024 through Dec 10, 2024 (daily)
Where: Patchogue Medford Library, 54-60E Main Street, Patchogue, NY
Spread holiday cheer by donating gift wrapping supplies to make someone’s day extra jolly! From ribbons and wrapping paper to tissue paper and gift bags, all donations will go a long way in brightening the season. Collected materials will be distributed during our two-day “‘Tis the Season” program and to Angels of Long Island. Drop off your contributions at any of our three branches to help make the holidays a little brighter for those in need!
4. Veterans Appreciation Celebration
When: Saturday, November 9th at 1 PM
Where: Trinity Episcopal Church, 130 Main Street, Northport, NY
Join us for an unforgettable afternoon as we gather to honor the brave veterans who have served and those who actively serve our country. This special event will take place at Trinity Episcopal Church in Northport, NY, offering an opportunity to show our gratitude and support to the heroes among us.
5. Pies & Parades
When: Saturday, November 9th at 12 PM
Where: The Whaling Museum & Education Center, 301 Main St., Cold Spring Harbor, NY

Plus, get hands-on by creating a “potpourri pie” — a beautiful and fragrant decoration to bring holiday warmth to your table!
6. Hauppauge Craft & Gift Fair

Get ready for a festive shopping experience as over 100 exhibitors set up in the gym, showcasing unique arts, crafts, and gift items just in time for the holiday season! With Christmas around the corner, this is the perfect opportunity to find one-of-a-kind treasures, from handmade textiles and jewelry to painted wood signs, floral arrangements, soft sculptures, and cozy home décor like pillows, totes, and birdhouses. You’ll also discover indulgent treats such as chocolates, soy candles, organic soaps, bath and body butters, jams, and jellies. Refreshments will be served by the Hauppauge HS PTSA to keep you fueled for a full day of festive shopping!
