1. 2026 Children's Summer Entertainment

Families are invited to enjoy the 2026 Children’s Summer Entertainment series, presented by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation in partnership with the Natural Heritage Trust and sponsored by NY Life. The program features a variety of free, fun, and interactive shows and activities at state parks throughout Long Island. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets. 2. Shampooch

Join the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation for Shampooch on Saturday, August 15, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. as part of their Summer of Tails series. Enjoy a fun-filled day with dog washes, car washes, nail trims, raffles, food trucks, and more—all while supporting SASF’s lifesaving mission and the animals in their care.
3. Pieces of Us
When: August 15 - 16
Where: BAFFA Art Gallery, 47 Gillette Avenue, Sayville, NY
This August, the BAFFA Art Gallery presents Pieces of Us, a collaborative collage exhibit by artists Diane Aliberti and Pamela Harris celebrating the art of connection through collage. The exhibit will be on view on August 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, and 16 from noon to 4 p.m. An artists’ reception will be held on August 2 from 2–4 p.m.
4. Run the Farm 4M Run/Walk
When: Saturday, August 15th at 8:30 AM
Where: Oxhead Elementary School, 144 Oxhead Road, Centereach, NY
Celebrate 12 years of miles, moments, and memories at the Run the Farm 4M Run/Walk! Whether you’re an avid runner or prefer a leisurely stroll, enjoy a scenic 4-mile course featuring two miles of even ground, gentle slopes, and two challenging climbs leading to the beautiful Hobbs Community Farm. Lace up, hit the trail, and celebrate the joy of the run and the journey together!
5. Family Night: Take Flight
When: Saturday, August 15th at 5 PM
Where: Old Westbury Gardens, 71 Old Westbury Road, Old Westbury, NY
Discover the fascinating world of birds and bats during this special after-hours family experience in the gardens! From 5:00–8:00 PM, explore Sean Kenney’s Nature Connects® LEGO® exhibit, enjoy the LEGO® free-play area, meet incredible birds of prey up close during a live show, and join the Bat Walk at 7:30 PM. Guests may register for either the 5:30 PM or 7:00 PM Birds of Prey Show and will have access to the other activities throughout the evening. All ages are welcome. Pre-registration is required. Tickets are $24 per child and $34 per adult, with a 20% member discount.
6. Long Island Comedy Club event
When: Saturday, August 15th at 6:15 PM
Where: Brokerage Comedy Club, 2797 Merrick Road, Bellmore, NY
Join us for a relaxed and fun evening of comedy, conversation, and new connections! We’ll meet at 7:15 PM, about an hour before the 8:00 PM show, for a casual pre-show mingle and introductions. This event is open to everyone—there’s no specific age or gender requirement, and while it’s not a singles-only event, most attendees are single. Come ready to laugh, meet new people, and perhaps make a connection that could turn into something more. After all, our last two comedy events resulted in two couples now living together—there may just be a little magic in the air!
