5. Salute 250

Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend at Jones Beach State Park during Salute 250 on May 23 and 24, a family-friendly event honoring history, patriotism, and community. Hosted by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, the celebration will feature a Revolutionary War Re-enactment Village with colonial cooking, historical exhibits, crafts, and George Washington on horseback from 12–6 PM both days at Field 3.5. Sunday’s festivities also include children’s activities and inflatables at the West Bathhouse, followed by a patriotic musical tribute at the Central Mall Bandshell and the weekend’s grand finale — Jones Beach’s first-ever beachfront drone show at 9 PM.
6. Long Island Lemonade Trail 5K Run/Walk
When: Saturday, May 23rd at 8:30 AM
Where: Blydenburgh County Park, Blydenburgh County Park Campground Playground, Smithtown, NY
Join the spring’s most refreshing 5K trail run at Blydenburgh County Park on May 23, 2026, starting at 9:00 AM, where runners can squeeze in a PR, press on to the finish, and cool down with post-race snacks and hydration provided by Waterloo Sparkling Water.
